| Alverton is located in Fitts Village, a small, popular
location on the beautiful west coast, otherwise known
as the 'Platinum Coast'. Next door to the driveway is
the small, colourful boatyard which is seldom used,
the pretty village green where church services and barbeques
are regularly held in the bandstand, and the magnificent
Il
Tempo Italian restaurant, reputed to be a favourite
of Luciano Pavarotti.
Opposite the village green is Jordan's supermarket
which along with usual provisions, also offers pharmaceutical
products.
About 200 yards North, along the beach takes you to
Charlottes bar which offers good, reasonably priced
food, as does the Crystal Cove, a similar distance further
North along the beach.
Almost immediately outside Alverton is the bus stop
where you can catch one of the very frequent yellow
buses which will take you anywhere on the island for
$1.50 (about 50p) or one of the more expensive government
run buses (less frequent). Three minutes North on the
bus, or a stoll for the energetic, will take you to
Holetown with its' many restaurants, bars and shops.
The famous Cliff
restaurant is about two miles North of Alverton,
where chef Paul Owen's spectacular cuisine is matched
by the amazing cliff-top views of the Caribbean Sea. |
